PPUK win World Extreme Medicine Company of the Year Award!

This week PPUK were the recipients of the World Exreme Medicine Company of the Year Award!  The award was presented at the World Extreme Conference on April 17th at the Royal School of Medicine by Jon Snow, award winning journalist and the face of Channel 4 news.  The EWM Awards recognise the achievements of some of the most inspiring personalities and companies associated in one form or another in the growth of the Remote Medicine industry.

The Company of the Year award was presented to the company or organisation that has made an exceptional impact on extreme medicine, one that has strived to excel and has set new standards in their fields of expertise whether it is in research, product or leadership.  Needless to say we are delighted to receive this award.

In addition, our very own Denise Prior was awarded as ‘Person of the Year’ in a separate category, which “recognises outstanding healthcare professionals that have made a significant contribution to the specialised area of extreme medicine. These contributions, whether they have been in research, leadership, innovation or mentorship, must have had a lasting impact in extreme medicine and must have demonstrated a lifetime commitment to develop this specialised industry”

Denise is a founder member of Porters’ Progress UK and House Manager at the Royal Geographical Society. Since 1991 Denise has developed a an interest in climbing and mountains which led to her joining the Medex Expedition in 2003 where she was deeply impressed by the courage, endurance, dignity and hospitality of the mountain porters. Denise was also responsible for ensuring their welfare throughout the trek and became aware of the precarious and inherently dangerous nature of their lives
- Congratulations Denise!
